Academic background / Curriculum vitaedoerfler_monika

Monika Dörfler studied Mathematics at the University of Vienna. She also studied classical piano and jazz piano at the University of Music in Vienna. Since the beginning of her career, Monika has been interested in mathematic methods useful to the analysis of acoustic and (particularly) music signals. (Diploma thesis: Analyzing Music - Mathematical Tools and a Case Study; Dissertation: Gabor Analysis for a Class of Signals called Music)

Current research

Since March 2008, Monika Dörfler has worked with the project, Frame Multiplier: Theory and Application in Acoustics  in the workgroup of Peter Balaz.

Hobbies etc.

Monika spends most of her leisure time with her children Milena and Simon. When they are asleep or busy she plays and improvises on the piano, writes new compositions for and performs with her bands.
