Academic Background

Bettina Hobel studied Linguistics (University of Vienna, Karl-Franzens University of Graz, Erasmus stay in Aarhus/Denmark) and graduated in October 2014 with her thesis entitled "Dialectal use of German as a second language. Pilot study of an Albanian migrant in Graz/Styria". Currently, she also studies German as a Foreign Language/German as a Second Language (Master of Arts) at the University of Vienna.

Current Research

Bettina Hobel is part of the Acoustic Phonetics group. After having completed a study on the pronunciation of long <ä, äh> in Standard Austrian German, she is now working on the project "Gestural coordinatation and speech rhythm. Implications for pathological speech".
