A long standing debate in the linguistic sciences concerns whether the bilingual`s two language systems influence each other. In this presentation, the issue is tackled from the perspective of articulatory phonetics. In particular, the role of the degree of bilingualism is discussed in the light of data collected using the ultrasound tongue imaging technique.
