Spatial Audio via Internet: Recent Developments in Content Creation and Broadcasting Techniques
Alexander Vilkaitis, University of Derby (UK)
There has been a huge increase in enthusiasm for virtual reality content in recent years. Spatial audio plays a fundamental part in providing a perceptually immersive experience. YouTube has been at the forefront of this, as they now support first-order Ambisonics online, and third-order offline playback using their Android application "JUMP". This talk will discuss the creation of spatial-audio content for such a platform, as well as several examples, including user-friendly virtual room acoustic auralisation and an immersive theatre experience.
